Evil or Stupid. Which is worse?
When a child, I asked my grandfather what party he belonged
to. He answered "Republican." "Why?" I responded. His
reason has stayed with me for more than fifty years. He explained
that he was not a Socialist. This engendered still more questions from
the little boy which he patiently answered. His dislike of the recently
deceased FDR, the New Deal, Socialist Security (as he called it) has, over
the decades, become more understandable to me. I know now that for
a man who had left school at age 10 to sell papers, helping to support his
family after the death of his father, the income redistribution schemes of
the Democrat party were anathema.
Comes now a new century and an America which I am certain Grandfather
would view with disbelief, if not revulsion. The Stupid Party, to which
he belonged, is now virtually indistinguishable from the Evil Party.
The American public is dependent upon Washington, cradle to grave, for
everything. And 'everything' is a word which needs no embellishment.
And the Democrats, with single minded determination, have never varied
the course. Whereas the Republicans have veered leftward over the
years, in an effort to pander to the public's laziness and insatiable desire
for the fruits of the labor of others, the Democrats watch with amusement
as the Stupids validate their Socialist agenda. Reminiscent of Roosevelt's
attempt to pack the Supreme Court with 'Progressives' we now are witness
to the Evils holding up voting on judicial appointments, employing the
archaic 'filibuster' to accomplish the dirty deed. The Stupids seem
nonplussed by this de facto change of
the rules. Magically, the Evils have turned a need for a simple
majority into a need for a 60% super majority. Oh, what to do?
Clinton would have made a recess appointment long ago. So would I.
But it would be Bork. Estrada is not 'left' enough for you? Try
Bork for a while. Next!!! And in Texas the Stupids have, for
the first time in about 140 years, the opportunity to re-district some voting
boundaries. What do the shameless Democrats do? They flee to
a motel in Oklahoma so that they can't be made to vote and can't be arrested
for their illegal absence. Folks, the avarice and greed of much of
the electorate is aided and even encouraged, by The Evils as well as the
Stupids. But since the Stupids are only playing 'catch up', they are
preferable. The blatant desire for power, coupled with its goal of
transforming America into a Socialist nation, exhibited by the Democrat Party
over the past seventy years, flirts dangerously close to the dream of Herr
Marx.
I had promised myself that I would not fire off any more of these ramblings.
However, recent bold efforts on the part of the Evils to thwart the will
of the sheeple, not to mention that of the Founders, forced my hand.
One thousand pardons.
The answer, then, to the question posed in the Subj. line above is, obviously,
neither, since it requires both Evil and Stupid to destroy a nation.
