The increase in taxpayer funded work sites for illegal
immigrant illustrates how some individuals embrace an illogical
understanding and implementation of law AND language, as it relates to
so-called "day laborers".
Day laborer is an inaccurate phrase used to alleviate
sensitivities to the usage of the term "illegal alien".
These people break our laws by entering our country illegally and their
classification by the papers should reflect this. Once this
terminology discrepancy is resolved, we can concentrate on the legal
aspects of this issue.
Legally speaking, drug dealers break the law by selling
drugs. The police find them and arrest them; case
closed. The police don't work with community leaders to
find new locations for them to deal drugs. Yet, this is the
thoughtless and irresponsible solution that some in law enforcement,
contracting, and special interests arenas would propose
for illegal aliens seeking work. You can bet that those
wishing
to find
alternative gathering locations for illegal aliens won't be
choosing
their own neighborhoods!
Remember, Illegal aliens are lawbreakers; they just haven't
been caught. To turn a blind eye and facilitate their employment
efforts, simply because they are trying to find work to support their
families, makes no sense when you consider that drug dealers are
seeking the same exact thing. Supporting an illegal
immigrant is aiding and abetting, by the way!
If we ignore our laws for moral concerns, economic
considerations, and sympathetic intentions, then each one of us should
strip ourselves of the term "law-abiding citizen"; which just so
happens to be the exact opposite of the term "illegal alien".
