Kris Eggle

Thoughts from an Army buddy of Bob's, Colonel Buck Trapnell

Bob and Bonnie, I was honored to be asked and pleased to be able to be with you and your family as you spoke at the Press Conference on the Hill in D.C.

I know it is not a P.C. thing to say, but in my book some Americans are better than others--better because of their deeds.  I think of our soldiers this way.  Kris was clearly one of these better Americans.  Twenty-eight (almost twenty-nine) years is not a long life these days, and he was surely cheated of that life, but if quality trumps quantity, then he made fine use of the allotted time given him.  That he was a fine man is clear and compelling testimony to all your efforts and success as his parents.  I trust you will continue doing good work in his memory.  Survivors should stick together.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Jennifer as you begin facing life without your marvelous son Kris.  You can do this. That Army training did not leave you, and I can tell by the courage of all of you, that you will survive and make important statements in Kris' behalf.
